We were grateful so many of you braved the rain yesterday to come out and visit us at 471 Winding River Road for the second weekend of the 2016 Parade of Homes. The weather is rainy again today but supposed to be sunny and beautiful on Sunday. Rain or shine, our friends at Peak, Swirles & Cavallito will be on site both days from noon to 5 p.m.

In our previous update, we talked about some of the timeless details in this luxury farmhouse – custom touches like the reclaimed heart-pine floors and ceiling beams that lend life and character to the home. If you’re planning to visit us today or tomorrow, we thought we’d share a couple of other features you won’t want to miss.

  • A true, farmhouse sink – imagine standing at the apron-front Shaws Original sink, a signature piece lovely enough to make doing dishes a pleasure. If you’re not convinced, stand at the sink, gaze out the window at the landscape, and you’ll understand.
  • A staircase to remember – many visitors have remarked on the beautiful, hardwood banister with decorative metal balusters. You’ll be tempted to swoon at the graceful, gooseneck curve.
The staircase creates an elegant transition between the home's two levels.

  • Quality in all directions – when you walk out to the back porch, you’ll want to gaze across the sweeping vista down to the Little River. But pause and look up, where you’ll see an exquisite beadboard ceiling notched with skylights. Does it get any better?

  • A home for all seasons – last weekend’s weather was perfect. This weekend is expected to bring a mix of rain and sunshine. But nothing can dampen the beauty of Pleasant Green Farms. The rain brings greens and yellows to the meadows, a colorful reminder of how special these homesites are in their proximity to nature.
